The bags are packed!
All the preparations for this “Swiss Camino” are in place….luggage, documents, contact info, and of, course, Swiss Francs. The first time I visited in 2011, I ordered Euro. When enjoying espresso and some local dessert, I paid the waitress in Euros. She returned with a mini calculator with the roller tape, entered the Euro amount for the conversion into Swiss Francs, and gave me the change …in Swiss Francs. Why wouldn’t she? Switzerland never joined the European Union (EU). I sputtered from that small piazza to the nearest bank, and changed the Euros into Swiss Francs. Oh,… I thought I was so continental. WRONG! That dose of humility kept me grounded. I’m looking forward to this retirement pastoral adventure. Stay tuned for the arrival in Switzerland on Thursday. Ciao!🇨🇭
