It is a good and holy custom to remember the dead.
The parish of San Bernardo has a beautiful tradition of offering Mass in the parish cemetery for those who died the past year, and for all our faithful departed. I learned today of the passing of Father Richard Archambault, a native of West Warwick, a White Father, who served the Church in Ghana for decades. May he rest in peace. Also at Mass, the mother of a dear friend, her name is Mary, is on her final journey to the Lord. I had the privilege of sharing with her the Sacrament of the Sick just prior to my Swiss Camino. May Mary celebrate new life in the presence of the Risen One. I always ask the dying to say a prayer for me before the end of the day. It is my association with St. Dismas, the “Good Thief.”, He asked the Lord to remember him when He came into his Kingdom. I tie my spiritual knots tightly with the dying, hoping my priestly ministry to them may assist me to be with them in glory.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And may perpetual Light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen, And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, Amen.
