The parish and church was established of San Bernardo was established in Prada in 1639.  Presently, there are approximately 540 parishioners in the village.  The parish celebrates the feast of St. Bernard, which is August 20) on the Sunday closest to the feast; this year August 22.

The music and choral accomplishment for this small Swiss village is amazing.  The married couple;  Valeria, the violinist and husband, Damiano (far right)  the organist, and the Choir Director, Sergio,  (second from right) led the 20 voice choir. They were stunning.  Selections from classic masterpieces lifted the prayers from the altar as did the alpine breeze on the banners floating from the church steeple.

Following Mass, Dom Davide offered my the honor of carrying the relic of St. Bernard during the procession through the parish.  Led by a squard of drummers, parish choir, the relic, the Pastor and Chancellor of Lugano, the statue of St. Bernard, followed by the faithful of the parish.
