Hello, again, everyone.  The old saying that “Time flies!” is a reality.  July 1 will mark the beginning of my fourth year in retirement from active parish ministry.  That’s not to say I’m sitting home doing nothing! Ha, far from it!  Still very active and assisting at St. Joseph Guardian of the Holy Family Parish, in beautiful Falmouth on Cape Cod as well as at the Massachusetts National Cemetery leading committals for our national heroes and their spouses.  It’s a very rewarding and fulfilling ministry for the proud son of a father who had a 27 year career in the United States Navy.  We remembered dad on his rhythmic birthdate, 5/25/25; May 25, 1925.  He would have been 100 on that date.  Rest in peace with Mom and my only brother,  Jim.  You are always in our hears.

You might have read in my previous posts of my annual visit to beautiful Switzerland.  Well, never to disappoint, I’m returning on August 15.  My older sister said “Adieu”  to her wonderful husband in March.  When I showed her the itinerary, she expressed her to perhaps go one day.  I told her at my nephew’s graduation dinner, “No….that’s our itinerary for Switzerland. I want you to know why I love this beautiful alpine country in the Alps. You’re going with me!”  Of course the eye faucets opened….and everything is  now all set.  We’ll end in the ‘City of Lights”, beautiful Paris.  We’re going there for a very exciting reason….I will be concelebrating Mass in the magnificently restored Notre Dame Cathedral!  It’s the prayer answered after the devastating fire of April 15, 2019.  I’ll be covering that, too, in the blog this year.

Passport, Global Entry Card, a letter from my bishop that I am a priest in good standing in the Diocese of Providence, and one suitcase is all I need.  It will take me less than two hours to pack because there are washing machines in SZ!  So, stay tuned for some entries from the heights of the Alps to the scenic views of Lugano, and the beautiful cathedral in Paris.  I can’t wait….and join us for the journey.

Grace and peace for now from lovely Cape Cod, MA.
